De Wildt Cheetah Breeding Centre

You will be briefed on the breeding programs followed by a tour of the farm to se the cheetahs. This is one of the few breeding stations in South Africa where these magnificent animals are bred in captivity. They also breed The Wild Dog.

Sterkfontein Caves

 Wonder Caves

The Wonder Cave Is located about 2.5 km from the Kromdraai. The enormous cave chamber with a volume of 46 OOOm Is believed to be 2.2 million years old. This cave has the best example in the region of a relatively young taluscone (a few thousand years old) which helps us understand how the older caves in the area were filled in. Wonder Cave contains drip stone formations as beautiful as those in the Cango Caves. It also has a resident bat population. Hourly tours are conducted by on well-lit pathways where no crawling is necessary.

Within the visitor attraction lies an exciting 4-billion-year journey on an underground lake, through the elemental forces – water, air, fire and earth – dipping through waterfalls and real icebergs, into the eye of a storm, past erupting volcanoes and through the depths of the earth and emerging at the beginning of the world. From here, the journey continues through an experience highlighting the history of our world and humankind as a species, brought to life via audiovisual techniques, evocative sound effects, theme-park technology and theatrical displays. There are also real fossils on display at the visitor centre.

 Elephant Sancturay:

Guests are guided in small groups on foot through The Elephant Sanctuary. The guide will provide in-depth information and insight into African elephants. You will be introduced to the elephants and you will be able to touch and interact with the animals. You will see the special relationship that the elephant handlers share with their elephants and become a part of it. Short walk with the elephants trunk-in-hand. See where the elephant sleep at night in their stables. Feed the elephants. On some hot days you may even see the elephants swimming. Lunch (optional) on the main deck overlooking the elephants.
